Fieldstone Properties 1992 - present
National Registry of Historic Places - 1996
As a Principal at Fieldstone Properties, Carleton purchased the vacant downtown location of the Good Housekeeping Shops in 1992. The 6-story department store was constructed in 1907 as the Jerome Remick Sheet Music Publishing plant and later became an annex for the JH Hudson company. Decades ahead of a wave of current development trend, Fieldstone created the first legal residential lofts in Detroit. The project was privately funded with general construction loans and the support of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation.
